On the 8th August, the boys are back. Richard Callander will once again lead his team of John O’Shea, Duncan McRae and Hugh Bowman along the streets of Sydney to raise much needed funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, Bravehearts and the Melanoma Foundation. Last year was a huge success with $100 000 raised ,this year we want to see that barrier smashed.
The course is the same Warwick Farm to Rosehill to Canterbury then the finale of Randwick Racecourse and then up the hill to Sydney Childrens Hospital. This year however we want you involved. From Canterbury Racecourse we are inviting you to join the 4TRACKS4KIDS team. You can walk the final stretch of 27kms and do your bit for the chairities involved.
Sydney Children’s Hospital
Each year the Emergency department at the Sydney Children’s Hospital cares for 30,000 children, two thirds under six years of age. Many cases are common illness and injuries – bronchiolitis in young babies, febrile convulsions and gastroenteritis in toddlers, fractures and lacerations from falls and sports. About 20% are admitted to the Hospital with critical illness or injury requiring needing intensive care.
The Emergency Service also cares for children with chronic health problems who become acutely unwell – children on cancer treatment who develop infections, ex-premature babies who develop breathing problems, children with epilepsy who have prolonged convulsions.
The Emergency Service extends across the state to offer specialist support to doctors in smaller metropolitan and rural hospitals with the care of children with severe injuries from car accidents, children with meningitis or severe asthma.
The funds raised through the 4Tracks4Kids will fund more specialist staff to provide better care for children.
